They seem like the absolute perfect couple from afar. Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo even shared a romantic kiss on New Year's Eve that brought tears to Vanessa's eyes. But the Jessica Simpson like behavior after the kiss reportedly may be cramping Nick's style and giving the singer pause.

Their fans have been teased for weeks that a wedding announcement may be imminent and some thought perhaps that is what Nick whispered to Van at the stroke of midnight.

But now if there was ever a date set it may be on hold. Star Magazine will report in this week's issue that after months of wedding talk – and excited anticipation – Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo’s marriage plans are in a holding pattern.

“Nick had been telling everyone that he and Vanessa wanted to get married in late spring or early summer in Mexico,” a source tells Star in an article for release this week.. “But lately he’s been avoiding the topic altogether. According to Star’s insiders, after nine months of serious dating, Nick’s beginning to realize that Vanessa is immature, insecure and just plain annoying.

Oh my. The magazine will report that until recently, the relationship was so smooth that Lachey even told Minnillo that he thought they should live together. His qualms started on that very New Year’s Eve, according to the weekly entertainment magazine, when they celebrated on MTV’s televised New Year’s Eve party – and Vanessa let the f-word slip in front of cameras.

“He thought it was childish, and that she should have held off on the champagne until she was off air.” Then, after the show wrapped, “…she grew increasingly obnoxious the more she drank.” “She gets overly clingy when other girls are around,” the source says. “She was literally groping Nick and he was embarrassed. He kept saying to her, ‘That’s nice but chill out.’”

The magazine report notes that making matters worse, “She started baby-talking, which drives Nick insane because Jessica used to baby-talk.”
